Stillness Retreats provides a new, idyllic and welcoming retreat centre for hire to group organisers. We offer a friendly, supportive and experienced service to groups of many kinds. Stillness Retreats is located at the Mill Retreat Centre, an historic mill, on the River Bresle. Set in 30 acres of natural beauty, the mill stands within a stone’s throw of a ten acre lake, all surrounded by the peaceful, green Bresle Valley of northern France.

Excellent facilities

The Mill Retreat Centre is a newly converted venue for residential groups of up to 30 people, for life enhancing courses of all kinds. Excellent facilites are available to support a variety of teachings,conferences and meetings. These include but are not limited to: yoga, meditation, dance and the arts, painting, Tai Chi, Qigong, bodywork, ecology, psychotherapy, spiritual exploration and many others. The main workshop space is breathtaking.

Retreat Centre Venue Hire

The venue is available to teachers/facilitators for hire for a long weekend, or for longer courses. We especially welcome teachers who would like to make Stillness Retreats their ‘home’ for their teachings The Mill Retreat Centre is an admirable successor to Mike and Barbara Boxhall’s former centre at Duncton Mill, West Sussex, listed in two national newspapers as being among the ten best retreat centres in the world. Stillness Retreats provides exactly the same service and support to teachers, providing a venue ‘par excellence’ where all groups can flourish. It is also the home for Mike Boxhall’s teachings on personal growth.

Venue Location

Located in Northern France, one hour inland from Dieppe, on the border of Normandy and Picardy, the Mill Retreat Centre is easy to reach from the UK, (about three hours from London via Eurostar), and all over Europe. For people from further away, Orly and Charles de Gaulle Airports are within easy reach, about one and a half hours from the Centre. Beauvais airport is only 53 minutes by train from the Mill.

Conservation and Ecology

The Mill stands in an area of outstanding natural beauty; surrounded by water and woods in almost equal proportions, it offers a rare tranquillity.

The concept of conservation is at the heart of the Mill Retreat Centre and is a main motivation for this beautiful venue. Preservation of the ten acre lake, a swift flowing river and canal, all surrounded by woodland and a wetland nature reserve, set the highest environmental standard. With the two year project to renovate the original hydro-turbine underway, the owner’s aim is to make the site carbon-neutral by 2011. We have joined with the owner Kolinka Zinovieff, to provide a service to retreat users which is second to none.

Retreat Centre Catering

Stillness Retreats provides a fully catered service. Our team of chefs, renowned from their time with us at Duncton Mill, continue to provide delicious and imaginative food. Normandy, of course, has always been famous for its cuisine. We pride ourselves in using locally sourced, seasonal and wherever possible, organic produce.
